Once a month, meet one-to-one with knowledgeable representatives from area agencies and get help with: • Housing • Healthcare • Food • Employment Assistance • Birth Certificates or Important Documents Yavapai Outreach includes representative from the Coalition for Compassion and Justice, U.S. VETS, Veterans Affairs, Catholic Charities, Stepping Stones, Goodwill, Veterans Resource Center and other agencies whose mission is to end homelessness in Yavapai County. These representatives work together to help you navigate community resources and get the help you need. This event will take place on Mondays, Dec 9th, 2019 and Jan 13th, 2020 from 10:00 am – 12:00 pm in the 1st Floor Glassford Hill Rm. No registration needed. For more info call 928-759-3040.

  6. Author Talk & Book Signing: Pam Houston

    PVPL (7401 East Skoog Blvd.) presents author Pam Houston, Wed, Dec 11th, 2019 from 6:30 – 8:00 pm. Pam Houston is the author of the memoir, Deep Creek: Finding Hope In The High Country, as well as two novels, Contents May Have Shifted and Sight Hound, two collections of short stories, Cowboys Are My Weakness and Waltzing the Cat, and a collection of essays, A Little More About Me, all published by W.W. Norton. Her stories have been selected for volumes of The O. Henry Awards, The Pushcart Prize, Best American Travel Writing, and Best American Short Stories of the Century among other anthologies. She is the winner of the Western States Book Award, the WILLA Award for contemporary fiction, the Evil Companions Literary Award and several teaching awards. She teaches in the Low Rez MFA program at the Institute of American Indian Arts, is Professor of English at UC Davis, and co-founder and creative director of the literary nonprofit Writing By Writers. Skoog Blvd) has been awarded a 2019 Library Services and Technology Act (LSTA) grant for “Be Creative at PVPL”, Friday, December 13th, 2019 from 12:00 pm – 3:00 pm in the 2nd Floor Children’s Programming Room. The focus of this grant will allow the library to offer monthly art classes, designed for our 50+ community, beginning in September 2019 and running through April 2020.     Prescott Valley Public Library (7401 E. Skoog Blvd) is presenting ‘Firearm Safety: An Informational Presentation, Not a Hands On Training’. This is not a hands on training. Informational purposes only. This class will cover: How to safely handle firearms, proper techniques to unload, load and safely store firearms in the home. This presentation will also discuss the differences between pistols, revolvers, semi-automatic pistols, single action and double action, rifles, a short history of firearms, automatic rifles and “Legal for Purchase” AR Series Rifles, and rifles of various designs (bolt action, lever action, etc.) along with shotguns.   16. Prescott Valley Art Guild

    The Prescott Valley Art Guild is a non-profit organization established in 1987 to further the education, awareness and understanding of the creative arts and to promote and encourage the artistic welfare of the community. The organization holds a monthly meeting on the third Wednesday of each month except in June and December. During the meeting information is provided on upcoming art shows and other related items, members bring in art work which is judged be members, refreshments are available, a raffle of art books is held and a presentation or demonstration is provided by a local artist. The Art Guild sponsors art shows in the community periodically and displays art of members in local businesses as part of our Art Around Town project. All members are encouraged to participate in the activities of the Art Guild. Members pay a $35.00 annual membership fee.

    Prescott Valley Public Library will offer Chair Yoga on the fourth Friday of each month. Lori Wallach has been teaching yoga for over 14 years. Her love of helping individuals ease into aging is the driving force behind her yoga. She received her 200 teacher training in 2004 and her 300 training finished in 2016. Throughout her career she has taught all kinds of yoga, from power yoga to meditation. Now, she has settled into teaching modified yoga that meets the needs of the individual and chair yoga. Chair yoga allows you to keep doing yoga regardless of your ability. The chair can also be used as a prop to help getting into the poses a little easier. Not to mention there is no getting up and down from the floor worry. Yoga will help you keep and build your strength, flexibility and balance. No signed up required
