Man arrested after entering unlocked vehicle

Shortly after midnight on Tuesday, November 10, 2020, Prescott Valley Police Officers responded to the 5600 block of North Long Rifle Road concerning suspicious activity. Upon arriving at the location and searching the area, an officer found a man in a van which was parked in a driveway on private property. The man identified himself as 29-year-old Austin Gregory Parks from Colorado. He stated he knew he had no business or permission being in the vehicle.


The officers contacted the registered owner of the vehicle who stated that Parks was unknown to them and they desired prosecution for trespassing. Parks was arrested and booked into Yavapai County Detention Center in Camp Verde for First Degree Misdemeanor Criminal Trespass.


The Prescott Valley Police Department encourages citizens to use this incident as a reminder to always lock their vehicles, even when parked at home.
It is unknown what might have happened had the police department not been notified. REMEMBER: If you see something, say something!
