[ARCHIVED] POLICE FIND NO EVIDENCE TO SUPPORT LOOTING RUMORS IN PRESCOTT VALLEY

On June 2, 2020, information was received by Prescott Valley Police Department about the potential for looters, masquerading as protesters, to do harm to local businesses in Prescott Valley.  According to the Arizona Counter Terrorism Intelligence Center (ACTIC) these rumors are yet unconfirmed.  Detectives with the Prescott Valley Police Department researched these statements and have found no credible evidence to substantiate this information.

 Local business owners have inquired as to what action they should take should such a scenario unfold in our Town.  The appropriate and legal response is to immediately contact the Prescott Valley Police Department to handle the situation.  We strongly urge business owners not to engage any such persons, nor become vigilantes on their own behalf.  Our officers are specially trained to handle such episodes safely with the least amount of injury and property damage. 

 Our Department supports the expression of viewpoints utilizing ONLY peaceful dissents and will arrest those who deploy other unlawful methods including criminal trespass, property damage, theft, and assaults. 

 Thank you for supporting our local law enforcement through these challenging times.  If you should see something suspicious, call the Prescott Valley Police Department and we will investigate the situation.  Our goal is to uphold the constitution of the State of Arizona and municipal codes of the Town of Prescott Valley as we protect our citizens and their property.
