2018 Officer of the Year Ryan Spriggs

Police Officer Ryan Springs With Award

Detective Ryan Spriggs has been a valuable asset to the Prescott Valley Police Department for more than five years. During 2018, Detective Spriggs was assigned to the Partners against Narcotics Trafficking taskforce (PANT).

In August 2013, Spriggs began his career with the Prescott Valley Police Department as a recruit in NARTA Class 35. After graduation, he was assigned to patrol. During his time in the uniformed patrol division, Spriggs was known to be highly motivated. HIs vast knowledge of the residents in his area of responsibility was evident by the quality of work that he produced.

Detective Spriggs exhibited the same prowess in the area of narcotics investigations where he was assigned for the past three years. While assigned to PANT, Detective Spriggs took on complex cases and the majority of which were criminals transporting large amounts of narcotics in and out of Yavapai County. Because of Detective Spriggs’ skill and fortitude, many investigations followed with arrest and convictions.

Many of the offenders Detective Spriggs assisted in incarcerating were career criminals with significant criminal records and dangerous to the community. Due to Detective Spriggs’ service and dedication, the offenders were stopped from committing felony crimes and an incalculable amount of illegal drugs and guns were taken off the streets.

Spriggs was instrumental in bringing down several drug trafficking organizations involved in the distribution, transportation and use of methamphetamines and other illicit drugs in Yavapai County and surrounding areas.

Detective Spriggs spent numerous hours teaching the public about illicit drugs and their dangers. He presented at numerous community events to include Embry Riddle Aeronautical University, Yavapai College Symposium, PVPD Citizens Academy, Patrol Level Narcotics, Overdose Fatality Review Board, Drug impact panel, and more.

Since becoming a general detective, supervisors and detectives noticed his impact immediately. His current unit describes Detective Spriggs as knowledgeable, skillful, and extremely dedicated.

His tenacity and work ethic produced an exemplary performance through 2018.
