Vice-Mayor Lora Lee Nye
Lora Lee Nye was first elected as a Prescott Valley Town Council Member in March 2003. She was re-elected in March 2007, March 2011, and August 2016. Her current term expires in December 2020. During Lora Lee's time as a Town Council Member, she has served three terms as Vice Mayor.
Lora Lee moved to Prescott Valley in 1999 and brings to the council an extensive background in community involvement including her service as a court appointed advocate for children. She currently serves on the West Yavapai Guidance Center Governing Board, Northern Arizona Council of Governments Executive Board and Northern Arizona Child Development Advisory Board, Chair of Northern Arizona Regional Council Head Start Committee and has been a member of MatForce since its inception.
Lora Lee has been actively involved for many years in water resource and water infrastructure issues. She has served as the Chair of the Yavapai Water Advisory Committee and currently serves as Chair of the Upper Verde River Watershed Protection Coalition and Vice Chair of the Northern Arizona Municipal Water Users Association. Of critical importance to Lora Lee is to ensure long-term water supplies to the Town and Region.
Lora Lee has participated in numerous neighborhood crime prevention projects, volunteered as a leader for the Girl Scout and Cub Scout organizations, stayed involved in her local Parent Teacher Organization meetings and served on several community boards and commissions including the Prescott Valley Arts and Culture Commission and the Community Board for Big Brothers Big Sisters. Lora Lee has been active in children and victim rights issues for over 20 years.
Lora Lee’s professional experience includes 20 years in administrative and office management in the behavioral health field. Lora Lee counts as one of her favorite accomplishments her graduation from the nation’s first FBI Citizens Academy.
As a long-standing patron of the arts, she has performed at dinner theaters and is a member of the Emmanuel Lutheran Church choir. Lora Lee also enjoys gardening and reading.
Lora Lee would like to continue promoting diversity, within the arts arena, as well as bring community art to Prescott Valley. Her goals as a council member are to promote local and quad-city citizen awareness regarding town-wide issues and increase citizen participation in town activities and governance.
Lora Lee supports the development of work force housing, sustainable economic development, managed growth and will remain a fiscal conservative.
