Civic Center Hours To Change
Beginning the week of November 2nd, most Civic Center operations will be assuming a 4-day work week. This hour change will coincide with a 5% reduction in salary costs for Town employees, with the notable exception of sworn police officers. Following trends in the state and national economy, Prescott Valley continues to see a decrease in sales tax, its primary funding source. While retail sales taxes are up, construction sales tax continues to see a sharp decrease compared to prior year numbers. This reduction in hours is an attempt to balance the Town’s expenditures with its incoming revenue stream.
To accommodate the loss of Friday hours to the public, the Civic Center will extend its hours from 7:30am to 5:30pm Monday through Thursday.
Due to special customer service considerations, this change of hours will not affect the Police Department lobby, the new Library, or the Municipal Court. CYMPO, which is housed on the 1st floor of the Civic Center, will also continue a M-F, 8 to 5 schedule.
The library will continue with its current hours of 9-8 on M-Th, 9-5 on Friday, and 9-3 on Saturday. However, to implement its 5% salary reduction, the library will close one day per month. The days were typically chosen to coincide with holidays and are as follows:
-
Wed, Nov 25
-
Thu, Dec 31
-
Tue, Jan 19
-
Tue, Feb 16
-
Mon, Mar 22
-
Mon, Apr 19
-
Mon, May 10
-
Tue, Jun 1
The municipal court will maintain its M-F, 8 to 5 schedule, but will close on the following dates:
-
Mon, Nov 30
-
Thu, Dec 31
-
Fri, Jan 29
-
Fri, Feb 26
-
Fri, Mar 26
-
Fri, Apr 30
-
Fri, May 28
-
Fri, Jun 25
To preserve public safety functions, sworn police personnel were exempted from these hourly reductions. Non-sworn police department personnel will implement one flexible furlough day per month. The lobby in the police department will continue to be staffed 8 to 5 on a Monday through Friday basis.
