Hiking Arizona's Canyons

Tuesday, October 10, 2017

Five canyons, five hazards, and five edible plants will be discussed. These sites are representative of Arizona's most notable hiking destinations: Aravaipa (Sonoran Desert), Bear Wallow (White Mountains), Sycamore (Yavapai County), West Fork (Oak Creek Canyon/Sedona Slot Canyon), and Agua Fria National Monument (Ancient Pueblo Culture). Some of the hazards include, rugged, cross-country travel, getting lost, and route finding. A couple of the edible plants include walnuts and blue elderberry. We'll talk about the best season of use, access, permits, and what makes each site exceptional.
