Geographical Information Systems (GIS)

Prescott Valley GIS is a division of the Public Works Department. GIS (Geographic Information Systems) technology integrates powerful database capabilities with the unique visual perspective of a map. Analysis of the data provides town officials a better understanding of existing conditions to make better-informed decisions. The Town utilizes GIS as a resource for planning and infrastructure management, ultimately improving the ability to deliver services to the citizens of Prescott Valley.

A GIS may be described as a computer-based system made up of hardware, software, GPS and geographic data for capturing, managing, analyzing, and displaying all forms of geographically referenced information. With a GIS, you can link information (attributes) to location data, such as people to addresses, buildings to parcels, or streets tied to city limits within a network. Learn more about GIS at
